10,000 Euros in prize-money – innovative concepts for the “smart CHIO”

The CHIO Aachen has long since also been a top digital event. The organisers are on the look-out for developers and creative minds, gamers and programmers, students and designers, equestrians and non-equestrians, start-ups and texters now. The first CHIO Aachen Hackathon is namely taking place from October 28th-30th. It is possible to apply immediately.

The CHIO Aachen CAMPUS event is being supported by digitalHUB Aachen. 10,000 Euros in prize-money awaits the teams with the best ideas. The participants will develop new concepts in spontaneously formed teams and put these into practice in extraordinary locations across the grounds of the CHIO Aachen over the course of three days and two nights.

Anyone, who applies fast also has the opportunity to experience the show atmosphere at the coming CHIO Aachen (September 10^th-19^th). A small reception will be held on Wednesday, 15.9., followed by a tour and the opportunity to watch the Turkish Airlines – Prize of Europe in the evening.

The Hackathon focuses totally on the “smart CHIO”: Which innovations do the CHIO Aachen fans want? What are possible ideas for the sponsors’ customers of tomorrow? How can the fan commitment and experience as well as the bond to the CHIO Aachen be improved? How can the CHIO Aachen be realised 365 days a year? How can the equestrian sport be further digitalised? Which innovative technologies and ideas could be of assistance here?

As a top international event that has in the past attracted over 350,000 visitors to the most famous equestrian grounds in the world year after year, the digitalisation is also having a strong impact on the CHIO Aachen. Projects like the “Judging App” have long since become reality. “Looking for answers to the changed behaviour of sports fans is thus of course also not ruled out,” is the motivation behind this as Stefan Knopp, Director of the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS, explained.

Experienced start-up coaches from digitalHUB Aachen as well as a pitch training for the newly-developed ideas, business models and prototypes will provide assistance during the event. A renowned expert jury will select the best concepts in the scope of a public award ceremony. Furthermore, the CHIO Aachen 2022 offers the chance for the developed ideas to be implemented in real-life, including extensive press coverage and communications.
