Top-level sport meets great art: Monumental mural transforms the Main Stadium into an emotional stage for sporting history

The excitement in the Allianz Park is mounting. While the countdown is on for the TSCHIO Aachen 2026 and the top riders in the world are making their final preparations, something is being created in the heart of the Main Stadium that captures the spirit of this exceptional place in a whole new dimension. A work of art that not only commemorates more than a century of sporting history – it also allows the emotions that characterise this place to live on in colour and form.

In the place, where hundreds of media representatives carry the stories of the equestrian sport out into the world during the show, the artist, Rudolf Duric, who was commissioned by the Kelleter artist studio, is transforming a previously unspectacular wall of the press room into a visual statement. Spanning over 30 metres long and 5 metres high, colours, structures and perspectives are reinterpreting the Main Stadium – monumental, full of energy and atmosphere. A piece of art that not only changes the space, but also revitalises it.

The fact that art and top-level sport come together so naturally here is obvious for Philip Erbers, board member of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein. When he first saw the artwork in place, he said, it “completely captivated” him. He explained it were as if the stadium itself was starting to tell a story – “of long traditions, great moments and the emotions that fill this place year after year.” Art and sport can touch people in very different, yet equally profound ways, Erbers added, and this connection is palpable in the mural. Which is why everyone is eagerly awaiting the reactions of the international media.

Rudolf Duric himself also speaks of a special project. He explained that his mural doesn’t aim to decorate the architecture, but enhance it. It lends the space substance and identity, making it a place where people want to dwell. “Being entrusted with this artistic design means a great deal to me,” he reported, while adding the final layers of paint.

And as if this visual highlight weren’t enough to express the interplay between aesthetics and sporting excellence, TSCHIO Aachen 2026 opens yet another chapter this year: For the first and only time ever, the acclaimed concert “Horse & Symphony” is being held in the legendary Main Stadium. What will unfold there is a symphonic event that will fill the stadium’s magnificent backdrop with musical power and emotional depth – an experience Aachen has never seen before in this form.

Tickets for the event – and for all other days of the TSCHIO Aachen 2026 – are available online, from the hotline on +49 241 9171-111 and from the offices at the showgrounds. Media representatives from all over the globe will also be able to admire the monumental mural for the first time during the event from May 22nd  to 24th.

In a long interior space, an artist is painting a large-scale mural depicting a stadium and equestrian scene under a blue sky. Paint buckets and brushes lie on the floor, and light streams into the room through a window on the right.
