Soers Sunday
Welcome to the CHIO Aachen: The “Soers Sunday” has constantly attracted tens of thousands of visitors to the showgrounds at the Aachen Soers for almost 20 years. The nickname “Open Day” reveals it all: Everyone is invited to take a look around the CHIO Aachen grounds, stroll through the village with its characteristic, white tents – they are 230 in number this year – stop off in one of the restaurants and let oneself be surprised by the entertaining programme highlights – and what’s more there is no admission fee. This year, the Soers Sunday is taking place on July 10th, and as usual it will traditionally be kicking off with a festive Ecumenical Service in the Deutsche Bank Stadium (approx. 11.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.).
Afterwards, the guests can wander through the CHIO Aachen Village, which scores highly with a variety of offers such as pony riding and many different games on the theme of horses, but also with live interviews on the stage of the Zeitungsverlag Aachen. The cast of the show programme includes among others, the Kaltblutfreunde Aachen (Aachen Draught Horse Friends), the Aachen City Riders and this year’s partner country, Sweden, with the “Royal Mounted Guards”. Under the motto “Circus, circus”, the show team RuF Hesel e. V. will be presenting artistic tricks such as horses armed with skipping ropes. The Spanish rider, Santi Serra Camps, will also be putting in a fascinating performance: He is going to show us an exceptional freestyle dressage choreography with two horses and two dogs. Of course, football fans will also get their money’s worth: During the horse football competition. Here the spectators will be able to experience the European Championships Final – also split into a first and second half – on horseback, naturally, a few hours earlier. In the dog agility display with the European Champion, Christina Kuko, on the other hand, our somewhat smaller four-legged friends will be demonstrating which tricks they have up their sleeves. There will also be a presentation of therapeutic riding by several therapy centres from the area in the scope of the “Moments of Luck” charity campaign. Furthermore, it pays to keep one’s eyes open because the cute CHIO Aachen mascot Karli, who is celebrating his tenth birthday this year, won’t be missing out on “Soers Sunday” either.
