Germany in the lead in the Nations Cup classification of the SAP-Cup
Laura Collett heads the field in the individual classification
After the dressage, two German riders were in the lead on the first day of the SAP-Cup 2019, however after both picked up four faults in the jumping, they slipped back into third and fourth place. Nevertheless, the German team is still heading the ranking after the dressage and jumping results. The British rider, Laura Collett, is currently lying in first place after recording her personal best result.
The results of the riders were very close after the dressage. The European Champions and World Championship bronze medallists, Ingrid Klimke and Hale Bob put in a fantastic performance in the dressage arena. Their score: 79.31 percent or 20.7 minus points. That put the pair in first place ahead of the multi-champion, Michael Jung, with his new aspiring Championship horse, Chipmunk, who left the arena with a score of 21.5 minus points. Chipmunk is already familiar with heading the lap of honour at the Soers, because he won the individual classification of the CCIO4*-S last year with his former trainer, Julia Krajewski.
Both pairs subsequently collected four penalty points in the jumping ring and thus fell back in the ranking behind the British eventer, Laura Collett with the Holstein-bred Landos son, London, and the number one in the world ranking list, New Zealand’s Tim Price with Wesko. Both Collett and Price jumped clear, adding no points to their respective dressage scores of 22.90 and 23.80 minus points. Ingrid Klimke and “Bobby” are now lying in third place, Michel Jung in fourth place prior to the final cross-country competition tomorrow.
Three further German riders follow in fifth to seventh place respectively. Kai Rüder and Colani Sunrise (26.10 minus points), followed by Dirk Schrade with Unteam de la Cense (26.70) and Michael Jung with his second horse, Star Connection (26.90).
Nations Cup Classification
After the dressage and jumping, the German team is in the lead on a total score of 80.5 minus points. In addition to Ingrid Klimke and Michael Jung with Star Connection (currently seventh place) the German squad is completed by Andreas Dibowski with Corrida (12th place, 28.90 minus points) and Josefa Sommer with Hamilton (19th/32.10).
The titleholders New Zealand are lying in second place with 83.10 minus points. The team comprises of Tim Price with Wesko, his wife Jonelle with Fairie Dianimo (8th /26.90), Jesse Campbell with Cleveland (20th/32.40) and Daniel Jocelyn with Blackthorn Cruise (36th/44.60).
Third place in the team classification is currently occupied by the British quartet, comprising of the current leader Laura Collett, Piggy French with Quarrycrest Echo (11th/28.70), Gemma Tattersall with Jalapeno (25th/35.60) and Imogen Murray with Ivar Gooden (33th/40.20).
Tomorrow the concluding competition of the eventers, the cross-country course, is on the agenda. Laura Collets comment after walking the course: “Serious cross-country track tomorrow.”
