CHIO Aachen 2025: Spanish rhythms and the dream of summer at the “Horse & Symphony”

Paying homage to the partner country and the eternal summer: The “Horse & Symphony” concert under the motto “Summer in the city” offers a spectacular show to kick off the CHIO Aachen 2025. Also on board: Lisa and Matthes Röckener, the Royal Córdoba Ecuestre Riding School and of course the Aachen Symphony Orchestra.

When the sun slowly goes down behind the dressage stadium and the wonderful sound of the Aachen Symphony Orchestra accompanies a fascinating horse show, it can only mean one thing: It is time for the “Horse & Symphony” concert. Amid this special atmosphere, the two evenings on the first weekend of the CHIO Aachen traditionally form the prelude to the biggest and most famous equestrian sport event in the world.

This year the spectators will be whisked off into their most beautiful holiday dreams: Spanish rhythms and summer music await them under the motto “Summer in the city”, of course always in the unique interplay of the Aachen Symphony Orchestra with the wonderful performances of horses and artists. One of the highlights is the appearance of the Royal Córdoba Ecuestre Riding School from this year’s partner country of the CHIO Aachen. “We had the opportunity to experience on-site in Spain how impressive the performances and show elements of Córdoba Ecuestre are. It is going to be a unique experience for our visitors,” Birgit Rosenberg, Board Member of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein, is convinced.

She is also looking forward to Lisa and Matthes Röckener, whose popular show performances are based on liberty work and calmness training. Laury Tisseur from France will present his breath-taking act – standing on horse-back in full gallop. Also on the agenda: The show team of Britta Rasche-Merkt, who has already amazed the crowd at the Aachen Soers many times in the past. This year together with the Ferberberg Ballet School from Aachen. Furthermore, the junior team of the vaulting club Köln-Dünnwald and the vaulting show of the internationally famous artists, Jerome Sefer and Kevin Ferreira from France, are guaranteed to provide breath-taking moments with top acrobatic performances.

At 8.30 p.m. respectively, the time will have come on June 27 and 28, that is namely when the first notes will sound in the dressage stadium – directed by Christopher Ward, the General Music Director of the City of Aachen. He already gave a brief insight into the musical composition of the two evenings: “We can look forward to classic, Spanish pieces of music, for example from Georges Bizet and Zequinha de Abreu. But the Aachen Symphony Orchestra will also interpret modern and summery pieces like our title song “Summer in the city”.” Christopher Ward and Birgit Rosenberg are both already eagerly awaiting the two concerts that kick off the CHIO Aachen 2025: “One shouldn’t miss these fantastic evenings!”
