Be the first to experience the best: World-class sport on Wednesday at the CHIO Aachen 2025
The time will finally have come in almost a month: Namely, that is when the CHIO Aachen 2025 begins! World-class sport, meeting up with friends, going for a stroll, shopping, celebrating – the World Equestrian Festival is more than just a show, it is an experience for young and old alike. It is that unique tingling feeling, that incomparable tension that the CHIO Aachen sparks off.
The enthusiasm of the fans is amazing, the demand unabated: Once again this year around 350,000 spectators are awaited at the Aachen Soers. There are many highlights in store for them. Ranging from the spectacular Opening Ceremony on Tuesday, to the Mercedes-Benz Nations’ Cup – the ‘international match’ of the show-jumpers – on Thursday, through to the final weekend with the UBS-Cup in the eventing, the Lindt-Prize in the dressage and the Rolex Grand Prix in the jumping. The Wednesday of the show offers the prestigious Turkish Airlines – Prize of Europe, one of the oldest and most famous jumping classes in the world. Here, the best riders in the world compete against each other with their top horses in the unique CHIO Aachen floodlit atmosphere. Since Hans Günter Winkler won the first edition with his legendary mare, Halla, in 1957, the list of winners reads like the who’s who of the jumping sport: Fritz Thiedemann with Meteor, Paul Schockemöhle with Deister, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum with Shutterfly, Marcus Ehning with For Pleasure as well as the British Olympic gold medallist, Ben Maher with Explosion. Last year, the high-flyer Richard Vogel jumped to victory with Cepano Baloubet, afterwards he raved about the special atmosphere on the Wednesday evening. “The Turkish Airlines – Prize of Europe with the floodlights and all the spectators is simply incredible. It is the first class in which all of the riders are eager to demonstrate their top form. The atmosphere on the warm-up area is already sensational. And when one enters the ring, the crowd carry out. They literally make you feel like you can fly,” the 28-year-old crowd’s darling, commented.
“Since the competition is also a qualifier for the Rolex Grand Prix on Sunday, getting off to a good start in the show week is extremely important for the best riders in the world,” explained the Head of Sport at the CHIO Aachen, Birgit Rosenberg. The endowment of 200,000 Euros makes the Turkish Airlines – Prize of Europe additionally attractive. What’s more, 2025 is a European Championship year. For many nations, the CHIO Aachen is the decider regarding the teams for the championships – so the field of competitors will be correspondingly star-studded. The same also applies for the dressage riders, who will be contesting their first classes in the Dressage Stadium on Wednesday, among others in the HAVENS Horsefeed-Prize.
The countdown is on – the CHIO Aachen 2025 promises unforgettable moments, top sporting performances and the unique flair that makes this show so special worldwide. Make sure you are there!
