Laura Bechtolsheimer wins the PHILIPS-Prize
British victory in the Grand Prix Freestyle CDI
There was a tie in the freestyle – and as we all know there isn’t a “jump-off” in the dressage sport. Helen Langehanenberg and Laura Bechtolsheimer received exactly the same score of 71.5 percent. According to the rules the victory then goes to the rider with the highest B-mark, and that was Laura Bechtolsheimer with her 15-year-old Aarking xx son, Andretti H (75 percent). “Andretti has already taken part in several prize-winning ceremonies today, so I think it is his bedtime now. I am of course delighted at winning. But it wasn’t the best performance he is capable of,“ the British rider commented.
Helen Langehanenberg (Münster) was rather disappointed. “Naturally I am delighted with this super result. But of course it is a shame, when you have so narrowly missed winning a competition here in Aachen,“ the 28-year-old stated. She was awarded 73 percent for her B-mark. Victoria Max-Theurer secured herself third place with the Westphalian-bred stallion, Eichendorff. “Unfortunately we made two mistakes, and I have won this freestyle with 74 percent before. However, it is difficult to motivate one’s horse this late at night, so under this circumstances he performed very well,“ the Austrian rider reported.
