CHIO Aachen 2010: The first horses have already tested the ground
Footing passed trial jumping in the main stadium with flying colours – Frank Kemperman: “We don’t leave anything to chance!”
The footing in the jumping stadium of the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen, passed the first test with flying colours. After complications last year the subsoil was renewed over the past months in an elaborate process and it has since undergone its first endurance test in preparation for the CHIO Aachen 2010 (July 9th-18th).
More than 35 test rides were made in the jumping stadium, one of the riders was for example the local hero Thomas Weinberg. His conclusion: “The horses do not slip, the quality of the footing here in the main stadium is excellent.”
Frank Kemperman, Chairman of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV), the CHIO organisers, was also totally satisfied after the last round of jumping: “The ground looks really good today. It seems that our refurbishment measures have been successful and we know now what we have to do in the next four weeks together with our team of experts. With this trial jumping, we have passed our first big test." After the ground renovation and prior to the test jumping ground samples had been repeatedly taken and the organisers were also satisfied with these results.
