Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel to open the CHIO 2010
Official Opening Ceremony of the World Equestrian Festival on July 13th, - WDR will be broadcasting live
The Federal Chancellor, Dr. Angela Merkel, is to visit the CHIO Aachen 2010 and will officially open the World Equestrian Festival on July 13th. “I remember my last visit in 2008 very well and I am looking forward to being able to open the event again,” the Chancellor commented, adding that the CHIO Aachen is a special occasion every year and that the international sports calendar wouldn’t be the same without it. To the delight and elation of almost 40,000 spectators, the Chancellor, Dr. Angela Merkel also opened the competitions at the traditional Soers in Aachen in 2008.
The Opening Ceremony, which will above all be characterised by the magnificent horses of the North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud, begins at 5 pm on July 13th, 2010, WDR will be broadcasting the event live. The tickets are of course also valid for the day’s sports programme, which kicks off at 9.30 a.m. with the NetAachen Prize (a jumping competition in the main stadium).
This year the CHIO Aachen begins on July 9th with the vaulting competitions and it finishes on July 18th.
