For the first time North Rhine-Westphalia is a partner of the
CHIO Aachen 2010

(Aachen/Düsseldorf, April 29th, 2010) The North Rhine-Westphalian Warendorf State Stud and the NRW cart horses are going to be showcased at the World Equestrian Festival. The tourist federal state, NRW, is presenting itself to the international audience.

Regions that feature a horse in their coat of arms shouldn’t be missing from the CHIO Aachen – North Rhine-Westphalia has become a partner of the World Equestrian Festival 2010. “It was long overdue, the region of NRW, where our fantastic event is staged every year, finally has the opportunity to present itself,” commented Klaus Pavel, President of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV), the organisers of the CHIO. “We are delighted to be able to take advantage of this platform that commands high international esteem, to promote the beautiful attractions of our federal state,” added Christine Harrell, Deputy Managing Director of Tourismus NRW e.V.

The event’s partner traditionally plays a major role in the Opening Ceremony. So, tens of thousands of visitors can look forward to seeing the noble horses of the Warendorf State Stud in the main stadium on Tuesday, July 13th. The stud Director, Susanne Schmitt-Rimkus, promises a top class programme with plenty of variety, among others the stud will be performing a big quadrille and its magnificent stallions will also be on display. Tickets for the show are available from the hotline on +49-(0)241-917–1111 or online at www.chioaachen.de. In addition to the stud, the CHIO Aachen 2010 will also be hallmarked by the North Rhine-Westphalian cart horses. An entertaining programme for the entire family is awaiting the spectators, above all on NRW Cart Horse Day on Friday, July 16th.

Moreover, North Rhine-Westphalia will be showcased in a diversified and attractive show programme. In collaboration with Tourismus NRW e.V. various North Rhine-Westphalia regions will be presented during the event. “Together with our partners from the regions, we will present the travel destination North Rhine-Westphalia to the international audience in the tent city of the CHIO,” explained Christine Harrell. The NRW colours will also be represented throughout the whole region in the scope of the traditional CHIO window-shop competition.
