CHIO Sales: Top horse Lara back in Aachen
Florestan is once again making his mark
All roads lead to Aachen. At least for the 12-year-old
mare, Lara. The Rhineland bred daughter of Lanciano will be
competing for the British team in the dressage Nations' Cup
with her owner Sandy Phillips, the wife of Mark Phillips.
The bay mare tested the Soers atmosphere eight years ago as
a "CHIO Sales" horse, the joint marketing platform
of the Rhineland and Westphalian studbooks. At the time Lara
changed hands for the stately price of 300,000 DM. Under the
saddle of Sandy Phillips since this year, she has already
notched up several placings in international Grand Prix competitions.
The 2006 collection of the two breeding
associations encompasses 20 horses. The North Rhine-Westphalian
top stallion, Florestan, is once again making his mark: Half
of the horses are either directly by him, by his son Fidermark
or grandson Fürst Piccolo. The horses already sold on
the first day of the CHIO tournament also originate from the
famous F-line. The five-year-old Florieux by Florestan X Ribbeck
has found a new home in a dressage stable in Baden-Württemberg.
The four-year-old mare, Desert Flower by Dollman out of a
Fidermark mare will be staying in Aachen. The career of this
dark chestnut mare will be further supervised by the Simons-de
Ridder family.
