Aachen, 28th April 2006

Judges nominated three photographers
Nominees for "Silver Camera 2006" selected

The judges' meeting ended with a small surprise: Over 50 entries for the best international equestrian photo of 2005 were submitted to the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV) - and in the end two photographers from Aachen managed to reach the final round of the last three nominees: Gerd Arnolds and Andreas Herrmann. The trio is rounded off by the Brit Trevor Meeks.

The jury members Walter Franzen (Sparkasse Aachen), Bernd Büttgens (Zeitungsverlag Aachen), Michael Strauch (official tournament photographer for CHIO Aachen and WEG Aachen 2006) and Muriel Faienza (FEI International Equestrian Association) made their selection based on a number of predefined criteria. Technical quality was as equally important as achieving a special perspective and capturing an extraordinary moment.

The winner will be announced on May 17th during the Media Night at the CHIO Aachen 2006. The international media award, the "Silver Camera" is jointly organised by the Sparkasse, ALRV and the FEI. The competition is open exclusively to professional photographers. In addition to being presented with the "Silver Camera" prize, the winner also receives 2,500 Euros in prize-money. Both of the runners up receive Deka fonds worth 250 Euros.
