Hobby craftsman working on a miniature version of Aachen's Jumping Stadium
ALRV still looking for souvenirs from the eighties onwards to exhibit at the CHIO

Hugo Gobbele spent 62 hours sawing, planing and glueing things. He inspected every tiny detail of the modernised equestrian stadium at the Soers and shot over a hundred photos, so that he could build a 1:100 scale miniature version of the arena that holds 40,000 spectators in time for the nostalgic exhibition of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein (ALRV). "Every single detail is important here," says the 69-year-old pensioner. The AachenMünchener Tribune just finished, it's straight on with the Mercedes-Benz Tribune. Stood in the basement of his apartment in Aachen, which he has turned into a small workshop, Hugo Gobbele is looking forward to the ALRV "50 years + 1" exhibition in the run-up to the World Festival of Equestrian Sport, CHIO Aachen 2006 (May 17th - 21st).
The souvenirs from five decades of equestrian sport in Aachen, dating back to the first World Equestrian Games at the Soers in 1955, will take the visitors on a nostalgic journey into the past during the CHIO too. The ALRV is particularly still looking for souvenirs from the 1980s up to the present day. These may include photos, autograph albums and bunting, or even entry tickets, posters and letters or curiosities. So, anyone who experienced one of the many top sportsmen or women live - Dr. Reiner Klimke, Nadine Capellmann, Ludger Beerbaum, Paul Schockemöhle or Ijsbrand Chardon to mention but a few - have got until March 1st to deliver their memorabilia to the ALRV on loan.
