ALRV seeks souvenirs of equestrian sport fans dating back to 1955
Exhibition planned at the CHIO Aachen 2006

The first photo albums, caskets or attics have already been rummaged through, numerous letters and packages have already been delivered to the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein (ALRV) by the postmen or even handed over personally. The rendered souvenirs prove just how much the yearly World Festival of Equestrian Sport, CHIO Aachen, means to the equestrian fans. The ALRV is looking for rare exhibits and curiosities for an exhibition to be held in the run-up to the CHIO 2006 (May 17-21), which is to document the last five decades of equestrian sport in Aachen: These may include photos, entrance tickets, bunting, posters, autographs or letters.

Following the motto "50 Years + 1", the coming CHIO event will not only be demonstrating the current top performances, but also a nostalgic review of the sporting highlights since the first WEG (show jumping) held at the Aachener Soers in 1955, when the legendary Hans Günter Winkler claimed the title. After all, the international equestrian elite will be visiting Aachen twice this year too: For the World Equestrian Games in seven equestrian sport disciplines from August 20 to September 3. And this unique view, the special relationship the visitors have to the Soers, to the sportsmen and women and their horses is to be honoured accordingly in a special exhibition. The ALRV will be rewarding the participants, who have submitted their historical souvenirs by March 1st at the latest, by raffling off among other things a participacion in the Opening Ceremony.
